New bike

This weekend we bought a replacement for my stolen bike. I took this photo whilst it was still sparkly clean and unused.

I rode it for the first time yesterday and it is fantastic! so much better than the previous one. In fact, I'd go as far as to say it's the most comfortable and fully working bicycle I've ever ridden, *ever*. Gliding through the city centre with minimum effort.

I feel my bicycle deserves a name, any suggestions?

New Years Walk

I've been meaning to post these for a while now, but I had to clear quite a lot from my hard-drive so my laptop could run smoothly again!

Anyway, we always go for a walk on New Years day. This year we were in Fleetwood staying at my mum's. We went for a very short walk by the sea. Short because it was incredibly cold and windy. I took a few snaps and these were the best two.

I guess this shot is quite simple, but I like it and was impressed with myself as I used my zoom lens which I still haven't had much practice with yet.

This shot makes the most of a rare opportunity. A clear view looking over Morcambe bay with snow topped hills on the horizon!

Snow shots

Here's a few snow shots from last week. All of them were taken on my usual dog walk along the Rochdale canal. I have never seen this much snow in Manchester in the 7 years we've been here it's been very exciting! The kid's (big and small) have loved it.

The End or Bringing in the New Year

It's almost as if we were really there.....

As this is the last shot of my Photo a Day blog I do apologise for it not being particularly creative or well shot but I was busy enjoying myself doing other things! Including eating large amounts of pistachio nuts:

Thank you to all of you who have been following my blog, giving me comments and feedback, ideas and general encouragement! I'd love to hear any favourites of the year from you. I'm not sure which mine is I'd have to look through them all again!

I have really enjoyed this challenge and do think that my photography has improved somewhat. It certainly doesn't take me anything like as much time and effort to set up and get a good shot! I think I shall continue with the blog but not as a daily occurrence. Probably a "best of the week" or something along those lines.

Enjoy 2010!

Late Christmas Cake

We made the Christmas cake back in October but hadn't got round to icing it before Christmas (what with everything else that happened). It didn't matter anyway as there had already been a cake ordered for Christmas day by my brother in law so I decided to save it for New Years Eve instead. Here you can see the finished result. Matix and I did it together, she put most of the silver balls around the edge and on top and thoroughly enjoyed herself.

It tasted yum!
