Endless Boredom

Nathan has been working on his journal non stop for days on end and I am so very bored!

May 30th - Rear Window

What a lovely sight to wake up to this morning! Someone kindly smashed our passenger door window and rear windscreen. The glass looked rather pretty so thought I'd catch a shot of it whilst I could but overall a pretty crap turn of events.

May 29th - Searching for fish

Paddling in the Tees and hunting for minnows. We saw quite a few but they didn't stay in one place long enough to get a photo.

May 28th - Castle View

A view over the woods and the River Tees from inside Barnard Castle.

The in-Laws

My mother-in-law (aka Kathy) likes fairy lights and plants, so whilst I'm here I thought I'd take a little photo of them both. Used the macro lens setting again.

Fake Petals

Ahhh a nice flower photo. Just a shame it's not real. I used the macro setting to take this just for a change really.

Bank Holiday Heads

Charis and Aunty Leah enjoying the Bank Holiday Sun at Barnard Castle 'Meet'.

Sun 24th - Mirror

The reason I've not uploaded any photos these past few days is because I'm away (yet again) visiting the in laws. Actually I've been using their home while they were away, giving Nathan wife and child free space to finish his degree films.

This is the last of the themed 'photographing children' photo's. I've enjoyed doing them but it has been getting a little boring I must say!!

Sat 23rd - Reflection

My friend's little boy celebrated his 1st birthday with a BBQ and party on Saturday. This gorgeous little girl is his oldest cousin.

Fri 22nd - Black

White

I've been pondering on this title all day and just couldn't find any inspiration from 'white'. So I decided to go for the whitest place in our house which is definitely the bath.

I used the flash to make it bright and a shutter speed of 100 so you can see the water drops clearly.

A Face

"And that's what I think of all these photo's mummy! "

(This photo is really grainy because I had to turn the ISO way up for it to be light enough in the kitchen. Damn this horrid grey weather, I want the sun back).

Window

Amusing themselves after lunch in the Slug and Lettuce on Deansgate.

This is actually a photograph from Monday instead but I wasn't able to use my camera yesterday as Nathan had to use it for work so it'll have to do.

Oh thought I'd mention that I am now on twitter!

Colour

Seren loves the slide. She goes round and round, up and down.

Today I loved the fact her top was the same colour as the slide and the contrast against the sky.
As well as using my new photography book for ideas I shall also aim to do each 'mini assignment' given at the end of each chapter. I didn't use the first one for my blog but you can view it here.

Harsh Light

Unfortunately I was having a very down day yesterday and left my photo until bedtime. As a result there wasn't a lot of harsh light around for me to do the theme of the day.

Nathan and I gave it a go anyway and this was the result. At one point we had the children standing on the ceiling holding onto the light!

Texture

I received a new cloth nappy in the post today. It's a micro fibre and cotton mix which makes for the weirdest texture, it's soft but almost scratchy at the same time.

Anyway, it inspired me for today's theme so I put it on Seren, left off the wrap and got out the camera.

Dippy Egg

One of my bestest pals gave me a book called 'Photographing Children' for my birthday so I can explore ideas and improve my photos of the girls. Over the past few weeks I've been trying to avoid taking too many photos of the girls for my blog, but for the rest of the month I'm going to do one of the 'creative exercises' in the book.

The author suggests that I take 20 photographs out of 20 different subjects, each with a child in the photograph. The first on the list was 'an egg' hence today's photo. I will probably use my own girls unless I'm lucky enough to have other children so sorry in advance if you get a little bored of them over the next few weeks!

At least it adds another dimension to the challenge in that I shall try to make them as interesting and varied as possible.

Leafy

Susanna

Yesterday we had a family BBQ and my Mum and Step Dad were looking through my photo blog and commented on the 'scary' photo of my sister taken early on in January. Seeing as she was also with us I decided to take another, gentler and hopefully more flattering photo of her.

Sunday 10th - Dandylion Clock

What time is it?

Saturday 9th - Tunnel

I spent the weekend at my mum's so that Nathan could get his work done without me and the kids getting in the way. Most of the photos are just of the children so I've picked the best and most interesting.

This was a little overexposed but not as much as I'd have liked. I took a few more that had a longer exposure but they weren't as well composed and seren is being much more interesting in this one!

My Little Pony

Daisies

I intentionally over exposed this firstly just to see what would happen and secondly to try and make the Daisies as vivid as possible. I like it but don't at the same time, I think possibly the Daisies aren't in focus but at the time they appeared to be!

I quite like 'over' exposing things so may make that my theme for the next week or so.

Brother Nathan

For some reason I think he looks a bit like a 12th century monk in this photo.

Why The Long Face?

This is a bit of cheat photo really. I was feeling unwell and exhausted all day yesterday and completely forgot to take a photo for the day. So here we have my second choice for Saturday's photo.

May 4th - Me close up

Taken very late on Monday evening when I realised I hadn't even taken my camera out of its bag all day.

May 3rd - South Shields Pier

A rather blustery day at the beach, but lots of fun!

May 2nd - Mary had a little lamb called Ken

A very camera cooperative little lamb that we saw at Whitehouse farm centre. All the others moved or ran away or tried to head butt me, but this one was obviously born to be a model!

Charis had a turn bottle feeding one of the goats. It was all very cute and fun.

She also had a snake around her neck, stroked a hen and held a guinea pig - quite an achievement for my little fraidy cat of a daughter!

Friday 1st - Sisters

The girls and I went to stay with a good friend of mine for the May bank Holiday weekend. Charlotte and I have been friends since starting school so around 23 years!! We had a lovely, activity packed time.

I never took my laptop so I haven't been online much hence my blog being so behind, but I did take the camera (of course).

This photo was taken in my friends conservatory (the only 'safe' place for the girls to eat) and here they are enjoying their ice lollies after dinner. This wasn't taken specifically for the blog but I just love it so much that I had to use it.
